Sunset Beach Community Emergency Response Team

What is a CERT?
We have a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in our Sunset Beach neighborhood.  Our Sunset Beach CERT has been endorsed by both the Sunset Beach Mutual Water Board and by the SBIA as a valuable resource to prepare for and provide help and support during wide spread emergencies (e.g. earthquakes) that impact our neighborhood.  CERT’s goals are to help the neighborhood be better prepared for emergencies like earthquakes, fires and other disasters.  More specifically,
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Programs educate people about disaster preparedness for hazards such as fire, earthquakes, etc.

The Sunset Beach CERT has gone through training courses and taken several steps to help prepare our neighborhood for emergencies.  They’ve created a booklet on what to do in case of emergencies, they regularly share information with the neighborhood about how to better prepare your family and home for an emergency, and they’ve established a stash of emergency equipment and supplies (e.g. first aid items) in a shed on the back of the community well site (on Sunset Cove).   To learn more about CERT and to request an emergency booklet, please send an email to the neighborhood CERT lead,       Jennifer Carr at: sunsetcertteam@gmail.com.   She or someone else from the team will get back to you.  If you have any interest in becoming a member of the CERT team, please be sure to email Jennifer as they need more neighbors to participate.
